San Clemente: Tourism and Activities
Surfing is a way of life in San Clemente, with famous spots like Trestles, Doheny and San Onofre drawing longboarders year-round. Due to the area's mild climate, water-sports enthusiasts nearly always don wetsuits before swimming or riding the waves.

Open-water kayaking is gaining popularity with locals and vacationers, and is a family-friendly activity due to the temperate weather and calm waters at local beach areas. Kayaks are available from a variety of nearby rental sources, where tourists can also find longboards, boogey boards and snorkeling equipment.

San Clemente also offers a variety of events and tourism attractions for land lovers. The annual Dixieland Jazz Festival takes music enthusiasts back to the 1920s and 30s to the era of ragtime, swing and big band tunes. Doheny State Beach hosts a blues festival in May, as well. Families can enjoy the town's annual Ocean Festival in July, with beach activities, sandcastle building contests and a variety of food and product vendors.
